The Parent Advisory is designed as an informal place where all high school parents can come together to listen to what is happening at FHS.The purpose of the Parent Advisory is to advise the principal, assist in communicating among high school parents and district citizens and to assist the principal in matters that are beneficial to the school.

Mission:
“The Success of EVERY Student Matters” at the high school through effective collaborative representation of all stakeholders.

Vision:
 
Active two-way communication between the high school and parents.
Active parent involvement at the high school. Outreach with community in communication, involvement, and stewardship.

Goals:
To improve the communication and support between parents and the high school.

This week we kick-off YIG Model Assembly registration! Come get information at our booth during lunch on Tuesday & Wednesday. Then we will have a meeting for registration in Mr. Holt's room, 148, 12 noon on Thursday.

Boys Basketball Meeting.... Tuesday(tomorrow) Sept 17, 1st half of lunch in room 120...... This is for all Boys grades 9-12 interested in playing basketball this year.

First activity is Wed, Sep 25 from 3:15-4:15. We will be eating and celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. To join, just go on FeePay and pay $10 towards Spanish Club. Also, order your T-shirt or sweatshirt! See Ms. Latzka or Mr. Samadi with ?s.

11th Graders! National College Fair is coming up on October 2nd. If interested in attending this field trip, pick up permission slip and teacher ticket from SSS office. Signed & completed forms due on Friday, Sept. 27.

Key Club will have its first board meeting this Wednesday during the second half of lunch in room 144. Sign-ups for events are in the IB office. The first chance to help is this Wednesday afternoon at the Fridley Walk-a-Thon. Sign-up ASAP!

 

GSA
GSA members: we need people to be at the GSA table during the club fair this week. Please let Ms. Stefanson know if you can take a shift via email or in the Google Classroom.

Reminder to all students that clubs will be available for information during one lunch on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week.

Homecoming is Oct. 11 against St. Croix Lutheran. Student Council will be selling Homecoming Class T-shirts next week September 17-20. Look for the table at lunch to buy yours for $10. Pre-sale only! Bring cash to get your name and size on the list.

Looking to join a great club? Our YIG club has two student led programs each year, Model Assembly in January & Model UN in March. Announcements coming next week & our registration meeting is Thursday, Sept. 19th, 12 noon during lunch in room 148.

To support parents and help prepare students for the new school year, Fridley Public Schools is hosting the Back to School Resource Fair event on Saturday, August 24, 2019. All district students are eligible to receive a free backpack and school supplies, while supplies last. Students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Questions? Fridley Public Schools families can apply now for Educational Benefits. Beginning July 1, 2019, Fridley Public Schools families will receive a paper application in the mail. Families can also complete the application online. Submitting this application provides our district with additional funding that directly supports our schools and our students’ education.

This funding helps support: 

  • Lower instructor-to-learner ratios
  • Additional teachers for reading intervention & extended math instruction
  • Student support services (deans & counselors)
  • Supporting direct instruction for English language learners

A new application must be completed every school year. Families who qualify will be eligible to receive free or reduced-priced school meals for the 2019-20 school year.

To apply online:

  • Parents/guardians need their student’s PERSON ID# to apply.
  • Household income level
  • Only complete one application per family
  • Online application process will take 10-15 minutes
