The IB Continuum at Fridley Public Schools

There are several aspects of the IB curriculum that are common to all IB programmes.

International Mindedness and Learner Profile

The International Baccalaureate defines international-mindedness through a learner profile that encompasses the aims of all three programmes. In attempting to define international-mindedness, this “profile” has emerged as the kind of student who represents the essence of the programmes—the kind of student who, in establishing a personal set of values, will be laying the foundation upon which international-mindedness will develop and flourish.

Developing an international perspective is a critical element of the IB programmes. It must begin with encouraging each student to consider the point of view of someone else in the same classroom. By sharing experiences in the classroom setting and beyond, students can develop their awareness of, and sensitivity to, the experiences of others beyond the local or national community.

Internationally-minded students strive “to create a better and more peaceful world.”
