The Minnesota Vikings' official mascot Viktor the Viking visited Stevenson Elementary on November 14, 2018 to reinforce an anti-bullying message. Fridley High School to Fridley Middle School AVID class mentorship

A new mentorship opportunity, students from Fridley High School's AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) class led a session in Fridley Middle School's AVID class to demonstrate learning techniques. The high school students taught their younger peers a concept known as "tutorials," student-led group discussions which allow students to work through questions and find answers step-by-step. Fridley Work Program students assist in community service project: Candy For Troops, Books For Kids
Two of Fridley's Work Program students, Lucas Antil and Nicholas Knapton, helped Fairview Clinics prepare for its annual Halloween Candy Exchange drive. From Halloween until November 10, children donated their unopened trick-or-treat candy and picked out a new book on trade. The candy was then shipped to those serving in the United States military overseas through the Yellow Ribbon Network. Click to read more...

TED-Ed Weekend

2018 FHS alumnus presents at TED-Ed Weekend in New York City

Fridley High School Class of 2018 alumnus Tenzin Choesang presented a TED Talk at TED-Ed Weekend 2018 in New York City on November 17, 2018.

 

Tenzin presented a talk he originally created during his junior year in the FHS International Baccalaureate Theory of Knowledge (ToK) class. Tenzin explains the concept of how talking to yourself is more than just thinking out loud – it plays a special role in allowing the mind to remember information, organize thoughts and turn those thoughts into action. His talk was selected from thousands that are submitted worldwide to be showcased at the annual TED-Ed Weekend.

Fridley Middle School 5th and 6th grade to present Space Pirates - December 6-7

 

The Fridley Middle School 5th and 6th grade will present Space Pirates at 7 PM on December 6 and 7, 2018 in the Fridley District Auditorium, 6000 West Moore Lake Drive. Join us for a whirlwind space adventure with a heartwarming message. General admission seating at the door. Ticket prices - $3 for children and $5 for adults.

Fridley Alumni Choir to perform Holiday Concert - December 2

 

Join us for the Fridley High School Alumni Choir Holiday Concert at 4 PM on Sunday, December 2, 2018 in the Fridley District Auditorium, 6000 West More Lake Drive. The Fridley High School Choir will perform alongside the Alumni Choir. Admission is free, but donations are accepted. All proceeds will contribute to scholarships for Fridley Public Schools students interested in pursuing arts and music.

Fridley Schools Foundation Black & Gold Gala

 

The Fridley Schools Foundation will host the second annual Black & Gold Gala on March 28, 2018 at Jax Café, 1928 University Avenue NE. All proceeds from the event directly benefit Fridley Public Schools students through teacher innovation grants and college scholarships.
