PRINCIPAL'S CORNER
Dear ALC Students and Families,
Twelve weeks ago, school as we knew it took a drastic turn. We all had to pivot and learn how to teach and learn from a distance. I applaud you all for sticking with it and working hard to obtain your goals. Also, less than two weeks ago, the Twin Cities became the epicenter of a series of tragic events. We know there are injustices in our society, our systems, and even in our own backyards. I want to acknowledge that we are all hurting and impacted by these events. During these times, please take care of yourselves, your loved ones, and know that the ALC is always here to support you.
I want to send out a special congratulations to our students who graduated this year. I am so proud of you and for finishing, even in these challenging times. For those still working toward your goal of graduation, we will be here in July for summer school or this fall for next school year. Please let us know if you need anything or just someone to connect with. We are here for you.
Dr. Jason Bodey, Principal

Check out the Summer Resource Guide for links to community resources including basic needs (food, housing, etc.), health (mental/physical), etc.
Self-Care during Summer Vacation
Taking care of yourself is the first step to helping others. And self-care can be approached in many different ways - take a look at some of the examples below and try at least ONE this summer.
Get OUTSIDE!
Explore a new park or trail
Take pictures of the places you visit
Start a game of basketball at a local park
Grab food from a local restaurant and have a picnic
Start a New Hobby
Juggling? Cooking? Learning a new language?
Try something new and document your journey with it.
How did it feel when you started? What was your process of learning it? What did you struggle with? Who helped you?
Practice Kindness & Gratitude
Each morning reflect (either in notes on your phone or in a journal) about something you are grateful for in your life or one way you can spread kindness that day.
At the end of the summer think about how starting your day with one of these two things impacted you.
Learn about a New Culture
Explore a new culture that you have been interested in - this could be a different race, language, nationality, religion, etc.
You can try new food, listen to new music, check out a new style of clothing, or a new language. Read a book about it, research it online, or find someone in your circle of friends/family that knows about it.
What interested you about this culture? How is it different or similar to your own?
Re-energize your Space
Clean out your closet/drawers and donate clothes, toys, items that you don’t use anymore. **This will not only help de-clutter your space but it could also help someone who may need those items.
Rearrange your furniture (bedroom, living room, etc.), add new photos/posters to the wall that inspire you, paint the walls (if you can), and bring some new life back to the space.
